Sweater-

Did you know that SWEATer comes from sweat? Lol, A knitted or crochet pullover, jacket, or a button up (also known a the cardigan) typically of long sleeves and covers and protects the upper part of the body....and let us tell you, it can be the coolest most stylish thing ever!

It goes back to the late 1800's- early 1900's with Guernsey, of the Channel Islands. Fishermen would wear sweaters to keep warm and protect them. They also wore them to sweat to lose weight so they  would stay fit and trim. However towards the end of the 19th century, it became much more popular and appealing. The people were really catching on.

1. The Comfort Factor

Sweaters are known for their comfort factor (especially over-sized)  Made from thick soft yarns, these sweaters feel like a warm hug on a chilly day. The relaxed fit and cozy fabric make them perfect for lounging and running errands. When you're comfortable you exude confidence and confidence is undeniably sexy. Paring a comfy sweater with jeans or layering them over floral dresses is all the rage here in the USA. Meanwhile, in France fashion lovers accessorize their comfy sweaters with berets and tailored trousers for a sophisticated look, as shown in our art work photo below. FYI: this is the sweater you'll want to wear after all the holiday grub! Loldark skin woman in sweater and beret hat

2. The Playful Vibe

Puffy sweaters and thick sweaters, have a playful vibe that adds a touch of fun to any outfit. Rich bold colors and fun pastels are a great way to add some play, especially when embellished with jewels or beads! Over-sized silhouettes and chunkier knits create a whimsical carefree look. Pair a bright/neon or fun color sweater, over-sized or fitted,( for a more sexy look) with jeans or leggings for a casual, yet stylish ensemble. Add some accessories or a statement necklace to elevate the playful vibe even further. Check out this neon green with pearls adorned sweater below, it's a favorite.

3. The Allure of Texture

One of the most appealing aspects of "The Sweater" is their texture. The thick, chunky knits, which is a favorite of ours, creates a visually interesting pattern that draws attention. Whether it's a cable knit, ribbed, or popcorn stitch, the texture of a chunky sweater adds depth and dimension to your outfit and this tactile quality can be incredibly alluring and captivating and pushing it further by adding rivets and spikes for a total edgy look! Peep the black silver spiked sweater below, a great statement for outings during the holidays.

Sweaters are incredibly versatile and can be styled in numerous ways. Pair them with skirts or dresses for a feminine and flirty look. Layer them over a button-down shirt for a preppy vibe. Tuck them into high-waist pants for a chic and sophisticated outfit. The possibilities are endless, allowing you to express your personal style and experiment with different looks.Check out how we turned this over-sized sweater into a dress that can be styled many ways.

 5. Chunky Sweaters

Ahhhh,...and then theres the chunky ones, because we're all about the texture... we LOVE it! They make such a cool fashion statement (the chunkier the better) especially in a BOLD color. Not to mention the warmth, coziness and style it brings. I mean, you can't go wrong! We love it paired with leggings and some stylish designer combat boots on a regular' during the winter season. 6. Plaid Sweaters

We call it yummy plaids. We LOVE plaid sweaters, such a classic and a must for the holiday season 2023. Giving such nostalgia vibes, especially in color combinations such as red and black and navy and green. Experiment with different color hues, even pastels. Especially for today's fashion, how really creative it is. In the US plaid sweaters are often paired with black leather pants (as shown below) or pleated skirts for a trendy vibe and in Japan, fashion forward individuals layer plaid sweaters over turtlenecks and style them with knee-high boots for a modern twist.

Definitely can't forget Scotland's tartan tradition. Scotland's heritage is deeply intertwined with plaid and tartan patterns. Scottish sweaters often incorporate timeless designs, with a blend of classic and contemporary fashion from chunky cable knits to roll neck jumpers, Scottish designs offer a fusion of style and heritage.

 8. Sweater Facts

  • The British call sweaters, jerseys or jumpers. (thought that was cool)
  • In the 1920's French designer Coco Chanel made "The Sweater" popular with cardigans. The designer preferred button down sweaters because she didn't like the way traditional pullover styles would always leave her hair a mess!
  • When I was a kid, I remember my mom either making my sisters and I sweaters or buying them. She would get them monogrammed with our names or initials on them, and I thought that was the coolest most unique thing ever!. I always got compliments from classmates and the teachers.    -RC
